The raison d’etre of Opportunity.us is to further enhance and maintain equality of opportunity in the United States. Undergirding equality of opportunity are what we’d like to call “capability factors” – or in other words, the building blocks of success. These are the foundations of any successful society –rule of law, infrastructure, public health, education, national security, and the focus of this snapshot - innovation.

When most people hear about the importance of maintaining a strong naval presence, they probably immediately picture aircraft carriers launching fighter jets and nimble destroyers darting across the waves. But the United States Navy is much more than a platform for defense. Quietly, our Navy enables the majority of international waterborne trade. Indeed, it’s likely that our naval superiority is in some way responsible for the device you’re using to read this post.

Election 2016 left many Americans confused and unsettled. Dominated by divisive rhetoric, the election saw the rise of anger-fueled voters, too often turning out to vote against a candidate rather than for a candidate. Unsurprisingly, this phenomenon has left voters concerned that they will not have a voice under whichever administration holds the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. At the root of our political divisions is a rapidly changing country, with one group, in particular, possessing the potential to move the country in a positive direction.
